Abovos beach
Abovos beach is a very popular beach that attracts many tourists. Geographically, it belongs to the place Afisos. It is located on the west coast and is 26 km from Volos. It is an extremely long beach, covered with smooth pebbles. The water is impeccably clean with shades of blue and green. On the western side of Pelion, the sea is mostly calm and there are no waves.
Above the beach there are several restaurants and bars where you can refresh yourself and eat decently. In the height of the season, Abovos beach can be crowded. The beach has its own parking lot and is mostly covered with sunbeds and umbrellas. Various water sports are organized on the beach, so Abovos is extremely popular with the younger population. It could be said that Abovos is a completely commercial beach, where there are even regular bus lines that run from Volos to this beach.
Afissos is a traditional summer destination for Greeks from Volos in August. Afissos in its surroundings towards the south and north has two more beautiful sandy-pebble beaches (Kalofteri and Lagoudi), of which Kalofteri is groomed, and Lagoudi is not.
