Tour of the Dimosari waterfall

The Dimosari waterfall is located 3 km from Nidri in the hill and you can visit it on your own.

Lefkada has rich underground water storage, which is one of the main reasons for the beautiful and lush greenery on the island. The high mountains of Lefkada are rich in water sources with many waterfalls and cascades, which eventually flow into the sea from the mountain tops. Dimosari is just one of the many beautiful cascading waterfalls that end in a gorge full of white rocks.

The name Dimosari is derived from the word Dimos, which was once an ancient place where numerous mills were found.
During the hot days in July and August, tourists will cool off here, in beautiful greenery, white rocks with forest, and beautiful gorges. You can bathe in the crystal clear water of the lake, which is also fresh in summer. The whole nature around the lake and waterfall is beautiful, rich in greenery and recommended to all adventurers.

There are a couple of taverns in the parking lot that are not the least bit cheap, but they are nicely integrated into the whole ambience.

How to reach Dimosari Falls:
When you drive from Nidri towards Vasiliki beach and towards the west side, in several places you will come across handwritten road signs, which say that you should turn right, and the last one will say that you will drive another 3 km to the waterfall. You will pass through several unimportant settlements and arrive at the parking lot, from where you will have to walk another 350 meters, through well-maintained, pleasant paths.

They say that the Dimosari waterfalls look the most beautiful in April and May, but if you come in July and August (and you will probably come in those months), you will be afraid that you will not even see the falls, because really in the lower reaches – there is almost no water then. Don’t worry, everything will be much nicer and more generous at the top even in the hot summer months.

It is recommended to wear sneakers on this excursion because of the wet rocks, and of course a bathing suit.
