Ferry from Corfu to Venice

Ferry from Corfu to Venice

Traveling by ferry or boat is always a nice experience. That year, we spent a lot of days in Corfu, and somehow we were bored to go to Serbia by the standard road (the highway was not built then, we traveled through the mountains). While visiting the city of Corfu up and down, we passed several times by the ticket office in the port, where ferry tickets are sold. I stopped by once, asked what the price was, and when I got the answer I immediately gave up (I don’t remember the exact figure, but it was quite a lot). However, I take the price catalog just in case, to study a little and see if there is any option to reduce the price.

Analyzing the catalog, we came to the conclusion that it is most advantageous for the woman with the child to sleep in the cabin, and the rest of us to buy seats and spend the night sitting in chairs. The price for such conditions was almost half of the original figure. This is where we became interested in this kind of action.

The next time I pass by, I’ll stop by the ticket office again, to ask live – maybe I’ll get some more information. There are two nice girls working at the ticket office, I (as usual) charmed them a little and got an even better offer – to give us a student discount (I don’t remember the exact percentage, but it was solid). All I know is that the price was less than half of the original price. I run out and tell the team the offer, everyone immediately grabs their wallets and we buy tickets for the Corfu-Venice ferry. Persistence pays off though.

A little tip: always buy your tickets at least seven days before your trip, there is a rush during the season, and the ferry doesn’t go every day, but for two or three days. Plan early for dates, a place on the ferry and to get some discount 🙂 (if you charm the ticket sellers, you might get a student discount even though you’re not a student).

The ferry is tidy, clean, full of people from different parts of the world, and traveling on it is a truly unique experience. The road leads right along the middle of the Adriatic Sea, and from the deck you can see numerous islands in the distance. After dark, there are cafes and restaurants, music, drinks…

Since we took a bed in the cabin for a woman with a child, we also got an extra bed for a child. She settled in the cabin, and then there were three more free beds in the room, when we saw that no one would come all night, we got in and spent the night in the beds instead of the seats. Maybe someone won’t like the fact that we’re writing this, but resourcefulness is the most important thing when traveling, and you should use every opportunity to rest.

Elem, the morning dawns and we enter directly into the center of Venice. Well, that scene is something that remains engraved in memories forever. Imagine a ship as tall as a four-story building entering the center of such a city…

Take a look at the photos, we hope they convey at least a small part of that beauty.
If you ever have the opportunity to make a trip like this, don’t hesitate. It might be a bit more expensive than going by car on the highway, but it’s an amazing experience. Ferries from Greece to Venice depart from Corfu, Igoumenitsa, Patra and Athens. Good luck!
