Kalithea
Kalithea is a modern, cosmopolitan tourist destination 90 km away from Thessaloniki. It is located on the east side of the Kassandra Peninsula.
An ancient temple dedicated to Dionysus and Nymphs (8th century BC) and the Great Temple dedicated to Ammon Zeus (5th century BC), belonging to the classical Greek and Hellenistic epochs, were discovered in these areas.
In the 4th century BC, in the time of the triumph of Christianity, the pagan temples and the sacred site of Ammon Zeus were destroyed, in which place Christian basilicas were later built. Kalithea was built in 1922 by Greek refugees from Asia Minor.
The place has an urban look, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, taverns, boutiques, jewelers, bakeries, pastry shops, children’s playrooms.
The site houses the Church of Saint Pantheleimon and the traditional Saint Pantheleimon feast is held every July 27.
The beach is below the main highway, with white sand, green turquoise color of the sea. In the evening there is shade here because the beach is almost in the recess, and since it is located on the east coast, the sun no longer reaches the late afternoon. Many luxury spa hotels are located around the resort, with private beaches.
Various water sports are organized on the city beach.
Due to its rich content and lots of cafes, the place is extremely popular especially with the younger population. It is also the most popular place among the Greeks, especially on weekends when many come from Thessaloniki to rest.

Events:
Toroneos Bay Swimming – An international swim competition held traditionally the last week of July. It starts in Kalithea and ends in Nikiti, Sithonia. The length of the trail is 24 km. Numerous parties are organized in the town for the occasion.
