Paou beach
Location: southern Pelion, 5 km from the town of Argalasti and 45 km from the town of Volos
Paou is a beautiful pebble beach in the south of the peninsula, near which is the Byzantine monastery of Agios Nikolaos from 1778.
The monastery is surrounded by evergreen forest and olive trees and has a beautiful fountain. During the Turkish occupation, it was completely destroyed in 1843, but was soon rebuilt. Inside the monastery there are many beautiful Byzantine and post-Byzantine decorations.
Paou beach is a spacious beach, so it is never crowded. You will enjoy crystal clear water, ideal for diving. The beach is not organized, there is no facilities, so you have to take everything with you.
Near Paou there are two more beautiful beaches, Mikro (smaller beach) and Megali (larger beach).
