Liri beach

Liri beach
Liri beach is located in the southeast of the Pelion peninsula, at the foot of the village of Liri, about 58 km from the town of Volos. The beach is a mixture of small and large pebbles, sand and stones.
It is extremely attractive, with clear, turquoise, crystal water. The road to the beach is good and you can drive down to the beach itself. There is no organized local bus service to this beach.

Liri is surrounded by high rocks, so the beach is suitable for hiking. There is no organized rental of sunbeds or any other facilities on the beach, so you have to bring everything with you.

There are two hidden caves along the beach, and waves are a frequent phenomenon. From the mainland, you can see the neighboring island of Skiathos. In season, there are many visitors here who are looking for untouched nature and isolation. From year to year the beach becomes more and more popular.
In the town of Liri itself, you can find private accommodation and try delicious specialties in local taverns. The town of Liri dates back to the ancient period, and was founded by people from the neighboring village of Promiri who fled to Liri, after a great massacre in their village. Every August 23, a fair and festivities in honor of the Virgin are organized in Lira.
