Lefokastro

Lefokastro is a small, picturesque, fishing village in the Pagasitic Bay in the south-west of Pelion. It is 6 km from the town of Argalasti and 34 km from the town of Volos. The road to the village leads through olive groves and beautiful greenery. The place itself is one street, along which there is a narrow beach, a couple of taverns, and private accommodation. Excellent seafood specialties are served in the taverns.

The beach widens to the south, where there are several more bays surrounded by rocks, with exceptionally clear water. You can swim to some beaches or reach them by boat. The central beach is pebbly with some sand, while sand prevails in some parts, ideal for families with small children.

Here you can relax and enjoy the beach with crystal clear water, the authentic Greek landscape, watch the sunset with a drink in one of the few taverns.
In the vicinity of Lefokastro, you will come across the ruins of a medieval castle, and in the village itself there are as many as 9 Byzantine churches. In the immediate vicinity there is a small arcade bridge from 1891, and a beautiful marble fountain. On a local road through olive groves, you reach the tourist resort of Afisosa, 3 km away. You can also visit the village of Neohori, a 20-minute drive away, where the church of St. Dimitrija from 1760 is located.

Lefokastro is not part of the KTEL bus network that runs all over Magnesia and Pelion. The nearest bus station is 6 km away in Argalasti, where there is also a large health center and a medical center. Time seems to stand still in the village and we recommend it to families who want a peaceful vacation, far from the crowds and modern amenities.
