Limnionas beach

Limnionas beach is located on the eastern coast of Pelion, about 58 km from the town of Volos, between Milopotamos and Lampinou beaches.

Although this is a pebble beach with sandy parts, its main feature is the large rocks along the coast. The water is turquoise green and extremely clear. The road to the beach is dirt and a bit tricky, but there are paths that connect it to neighboring beaches. Recommended for younger tourists and hiking expeditions.

For all lovers of diving, this is the ideal beach, because there are numerous caves in its surroundings. The beach is highly recommended for relaxation and enjoyment. According to the stories of local residents, the Xerean fleet was destroyed in this place in 480 BC.

Today, Limnionas represents the natural habitat of Mediterranean seals (Monachus), which are protected by law.

There is a ruin of an old building on the beach, and a house has been built that you can climb up to by stairs. From the top of that house there is a beautiful view of the beach. Tourists often visit Limnionas by boats and canoes, where they explore the surrounding caves. In season, it happens that you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach.

Limnionas beach is difficult to access by car, most people come by jeeps or motorbikes. We went by car to the church that you can see in the picture. We parked the car there and noticed something simply incredible – namely, drinking water, as cold as ice, springs from the small church you see in the picture. We took photos of the church and the spring, then walked for ten minutes along the bumpy road to the beach. All in all, it is possible to get to the beach by car, but the road is very bad and you have to be a very good driver not to leave the exhaust or shock absorbers somewhere on the road. Maybe it’s better to follow our example, get to the church (it’s also a bad road), park, freshen up and continue to this beautiful beach, where you’ll forget about all the problems of getting there. Limnionas beach is so beautiful that it definitely deserves a visit, even if you work a little hard to get there.

From the beach you can also get to the famous Mylopotamos beach by a shortcut, they say it takes a little over half an hour, we have not checked that information. In any case, the road is not passable by car.

The beach can be reached by turning off the main highway by the sea, pay attention if you are going from the south-north direction, immediately after the last curve that leads out of the big bay, there is a sharp turn to the right. We took pictures of that turn, as well as the marker that was placed. We hope that this will make it easier for you to reach Limnionas beach.
