Kala Nera

Kala Nera belongs to the municipality of Milies, it is located 18 km east of the town of Volos, between the coastal towns of Kato Gatzea and Afissos.

Kala Nera was a small Greek fishing village, which today has become one of the favorite summer resorts. It owes its popularity to its location, Pagasitic Bay. On the southeastern side of Cala Nera, there is the mouth of the Belegrino River, which represents the natural border between Cala Nera and the village of Koropi.

The lifeguard on the beach is always awake, our videographer had a burning desire to suddenly forget how to swim, so that he could be rescued 🙂
Cala Nera beach has a Blue Flag for its exceptionally clean water. At the very entrance to the town, the beach is rocky, with poor access and, therefore, rarely visited. Somewhere from the middle of the town, the approach to the sea changes and the beach becomes pebbly, so the second part fully justifies its name as a good beach. Along the coast there are many taverns and cafes with a nice view of the sea. There are several sources of cold drinking water in the place.

Kala Nera is one of the favorite destinations for Greeks, who consider this part of the Pelion peninsula to be the most beautiful for rest and enjoyment. In Cala Nera, as well as in its surroundings, you can enjoy walking, horseback riding, cycling, diving, water and winter sports… Also, Cala Nera is the perfect place from which you can start getting to know the whole of Pelion, also known as the “mythical land of the famous Centaurs and Argonaut”.

Cala Nera is an excellent starting point for exploring the peninsula. It takes 15-30 minutes to drive to most beaches and places. Our team had just chosen Cala Nera as a base, so we got to know the whole peninsula from there.
