Diaporti beach and Pounta Island, Sithonia
A special gem of Sithonia is certainly the Diaporti Peninsula. The eastern part of Diaporti Beach is mostly rocky, while in the south and west there are several bays with gray and greenish boulders.
You will find Diaporti Beach if, after Porto Carras, you turn right from the main thoroughfare and head south all the way to the coast. After 100 meters the road branches off. If you turn right, follow the path to the coast and turn left to Vahti beach. Then follow the bay to the right and it will take you to Diaporti Beach. If you turn left from the road, follow the road straight to Stiladario Beach. On the beach, turn right to Vahti beach and continue as explained in the previous sentences.
At this point you will find something unusual and very interesting, a natural phenomenon. What it is? Part of the mainland, the Greeks call it Pounta; At times of high tide or big waves, the Pount becomes an island. It can be crossed over, what needs to be addressed is a timely return so that they do not stay on the other side. An experience and experience that should certainly be afforded with a very clear view of the power of natural forces, water, moon, sea currents and sand as material subject to their effects.
The island / peninsula of Pounta stretches 1km in length, at its widest part is about 450m. It has several bays and beaches oriented on all four sides of the world. For those who are less brave, we recommend a boat that can be moved to the other side.
Diaporti beach consists of 3 small pebble beaches at the Cape of the Sithonia peninsula. The water near the shore is very clear and clean for swimming because of the rocky bottom. The beaches are unorganized which means that they do not have tourist facilities, so our recommendation is to bring everything with you. Towels, food, water and enjoy the adventure.
