Fakistra is another top beach on the east coast of Pelion, 56 km from the town of Volos. It is located south of Damouhari beach and before Milopotamos beach.
It belongs to the village of Tsagarada, from which it is 5 km away. The beach is pebbly with a lot of large stones on it, which were washed away by frequent waves. In the past, Fakista had small gravel and was ideal for family vacations, but today it is full of large stones. The Greeks say that nature will take care of it in a few years.
What is specific is the descent to the beach, which does not last longer than 5 minutes. A small path through the forest leads to the beach, which in some parts turns into a real rocky area, so it is advisable to wear sneakers. Along the path in several places there are benches with beautiful viewpoints. We can’t say it’s hiking, but you should definitely be careful when going down to the beach. Any effort to go down will surely pay off, because Fakistra is a real beauty. Fakistra has the turquoise color of the sea, and it is never crowded. The beach is wild and has no facilities. In the afternoon, the entire beach is in the shade.
In the northern part above the beach there are two caves. The first is Panagia Megalomata, which is full of cave stalactites, while a few meters higher there is the second – Krifo Scholio cave, which during the Turkish occupation served as a secret school of Tsagarada. Fakistra is ideal for diving because of the extremely clean and clear water. It has been on the list of Top 10 beaches in Europe for years, which are ideal for trekking and swimming. However, we recommend it to the younger population, and to all those with an adventurous spirit.
