The journey continues through the municipality of Elimnioi, and with its headquarters in the beautiful maritime town of Limni (the ancient city of Elimnion). Built amphitheatrically high from the Northern Gulf of Evia, this city has a centuries-long history and a great maritime tradition.

Most people, however, are not aware of prehistoric finds, ancient cities, monasteries that are some of the oldest in the country, temples that date back to the time of Homer, the remains of Byzantine buildings, which are still preserved and located in this place. Although certainly, if nothing else, all these elements contribute to further investigations.

Ancient Elimnion according to Thucydides, as well as the nearby towns of Orobiae and Aegae, were most likely destroyed by earthquakes, and the picturesque History and Folklore Museum of Limni is filled with the rich cultural traditions of the area and even includes a small archaeological collection.
What you should look for and visit are the famous excavations of the early Christian basilica in the center of Limni, then the Church of Agios Ioannis Katounia, the Monastery of Agios Nikolaos Galatakis at the foot of Mount Kandili as well as the Monastery of Blessed David.

Also visit The Venetian Tower house in Rovies, a Stefani castle whose ruins date back to classical times on Mourtias.

Also enjoy the beautiful waterfall of the Drymona River located at an altitude of 580 meters. The waterfall is 15 meters high, located between tall firs and pines. Visit this magical place and see for yourself its soothing energy.
