Myrtos is the most famous beach in the northern part of Kefalonia, it has a blue flag, and it has been declared the most beautiful beach in Greece and even Europe several times. It is located between the steep rocks of Agia Dinati and Kalon Oros. As you approach the turquoise water, a large rock is gradually turning into gravel and up to fine white sand. The beach is not good for small children, because the current is very strong, and the entrance to the largest part of the beach is steep. In the afternoon there are frequent waves, sometimes strong wind. On the left side of the beach, the pebbles are finer, and you can also enter a natural cave, where there is shade and shallow water, so you can spend the whole day without burning in the sun. Of course, if you arrive early, you get a seat. The cave is also convenient for small children, who can enjoy swimming, shallow water and shade.

After the 2014 earthquake, the beach was almost completely destroyed, large landslides buried the beach. In July 2015, our team is Myrtos. The beach is now almost completely fixed, the stones are almost completely cleared (although there are signs of landslides at the ends of the beach), the road to the beach has been repaired, but please note that the main road between Myrtos Beach and Assos has not yet been repaired (in July 2015 – if if you were after us and saw the changes, please let us know), you can travel by a detour through the mountain. That road is not terrible, but it has a lot of curves and in some places it is quite narrow. In any case – both Myrtos beach and the town of Assos, with their beauty, deserve to drive a slightly longer route through the mountain. Public transport also goes to the beach during the summer months.
