When you come to Cassandra Nea Potidea is the first place on the peninsula you will see. It is known as the “Gate of Cassandra”. It is only 33 km away from Poligiros. It is said to be at the same time “The most beautiful beach on Kassandra” and one of the most beautiful towns in the whole of Halkidiki. The place is surrounded by the sea with two beautiful bays: Termaikos and Toroneos To get to the place you have to cross the beautiful bridge.

Nea Potide was founded by refugees from eastern Thrace and Asia Minor who came here in 1922 to the site of the old Potida, the Palini neighborhood. Today, the town has about 1000 inhabitants. Interestingly, Nea Potidea is the only access and most important port in the Kassandra Peninsula.

In 1960, the skeleton of a 700,000-year-old girl was discovered on the premises of Nea Potide. These are also the oldest human bone remains in Greece. Cassandros built a place called Cassandria 316 BC. A canal was built here that made Nea Potidea famous today.

Nea Potidea has a long sandy beach with deck chairs and parasols for rent. There are plenty of beach cafes and tavernas as well as a great organization with water sports.

The tourist offer is rich with many luxury hotels, as well as private apartments and studios.

Every November 14th commemorates the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the Greek Revolution of 1821, when revolted inhabitants set fire to the castle.
