Papa Nero beach

Papa Nero beach and the town itself is located on the eastern coast of Pelion, in the extension of Agios Ioanis town on its right. (at about 200 meters) It is enough to cross the small bridge from the direction of Agios Ioanis and you are on Papa Nero beach. The town of Agios Ioannis itself is located 46 km from Volos.

Papa Nero is a superb beach with a combination of small pebbles in the water and sand on the shore itself. The water is a perfect, turquoise color. In 2014, Papa Nero was declared one of the most beautiful beaches on Pelion and in Greece. The biggest problem of the beaches on the east coast, as well as the Papa Nero beaches, are frequent winds, which create big waves and rough seas.
Although it is a very long and wide beach, it is very popular in the month of August, so in that period you can encounter a big crowd and a problem with parking. Along most of the beach there are sunbeds with umbrellas, but there is enough space for all those who do not want to rent them.
Next to the beach there is a beautifully landscaped promenade, with a special path for trekking and bicycles. Also next to the beach is the Papa Nero camp, which is in the forest. The camp covers an area of 20 ares and is fully equipped for a comfortable stay.

Papa Nero has plenty of cafes, taverns, bars, hotel and apartment accommodation, and is a completely separate and independent destination from Agios Ioannis. Since it is on the east coast, most of the beach is in the shade in the afternoon. On the beach there are showers, changing rooms, sleeping area, field for mini-football, for volleyball…

An old road leads from Papa Nero to the neighboring town of Damouhari, which is also a very attractive destination with a nice beach and taverns.
