Propane (Kalamaki) beach

Propane (Kalamaki) beach

Propane Beach is located near the village of Kalamaki, so the locals call it Kalamaki Beach. A nice asphalt road leads to the center of the village (about 2 km), with a lot of bends, and there is a parking lot at the entrance to the beach. When you park your car, there are stairs leading to the beach.
What makes this beach special is the source of ice-cold drinking water (the green hose can be seen in the photos). The locals brought the water for testing, it is of top quality, so bring bottles and visit Propane (Kalamaki) beach.

The beach is located in a small bay, at the foot of the gorge above which the village of Kalamaki is located. In the center of the village there are two restaurants – one traditional and one more modern, from which in good weather you can see Halkidiki with the top of Athos and the Sporades (Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos). We definitely recommend you to stop by for lunch, and those who follow us on Facebook may remember that we posted pictures from that restaurant.

Propane beach is all in stones and large gravel, with extremely clean water and many natural pools where the water is much warmer. Sometimes the whole eastern coast of Pelion is in waves, and so it is at Propan Beach. We happened to give up the beach and go to the west side (Afissos) in the middle of July, but that’s not something you should worry about. Propan beach is fantastic, one of the most beautiful and quiet beaches of Pelion and you will surely enjoy it when you stop by.

In the afternoon it is in the shade, it is surrounded by rocks that are extremely suitable for diving. There is also a changing cabin on the beach, but there are no toilets, so the gorge you enter is often visited in that sense.

You can make beautiful towers out of the stones on the beach, since the stones are flat.

We recommend visiting this beautiful beach, where there are no crowds, and the purity of the water will delight you.
